Dundee United 0-0 Hibernian
United's Grzegorz Szamotulski made a double save to deny Steven Fletcher and Brian Kerr in the first half.
Lee Wilkie hit his own crossbar before the Polish goalkeeper made another great effort to get a hand to an Abdessalam Benjelloun strike.
Willo Flood volleyed wide for United and Noel Hunt had a shot cleared off the goal-line by Kevin McCann.
Both sides lined up with 4-5-1 formations and space was at a premium in a congested midfield area.
The second half produced a lot more action, with both goalkeepers, who had started shakily in the driving rain, kept busy.
Noel Hunt was isolated up front for United but he did well to rob McCann and set up Lee Wilkie for a shot only for Yves Ma-Kalambay to save comfortably.
United were then fortunate not to concede when a blunder from Szamotulski saw the goalkeeper gift the ball to Merouane Zemmama on the edge of the penalty area.
However, the Moroccan, who scored twice as a substitute last week, shot straight back at the relieved former Poland international when a goal looked certain.
There was little in the way of early goalmouth action but Ma-Kalamby had to get down swiftly to push away a long range strike from home skipper Barry Robson.
Ma-Kalamby gave the visiting fans a scare when he dropped a cross and Christian Kalvenes was not far away as he lunged at the loose ball before the keeper recovered.
Szamotulski again looked uncertain when he fisted the ball against onrushing Hibs striker Fletcher but the ball spun to Wilkie and the danger was cleared.
The Pole redeemed himself with a great block to deny Fletcher and when the ball broke to Kerr he sprung back to his feet to save the midfielder's side-foot effort.
After a scrappy start, the second half suddenly opened up, with United's Flood volleying wide from close range before Hibs broke and a swift move culminated with Wilkie crashing the ball off his own crossbar.
A flurry of action then saw Ma-Kalamby twice use his imposing frame to thwart promising United attacks.
Szamotulski bettered his opposite number with a wonderful diving save to keep out a shot from substitute Benjelloun, following good work from Fletcher.
Ma-Kalamby was blowing hot and cold and had McCann to thank when the defender cleared Hunt's effort off the goal-line after the keeper had dropped the ball at the feet of the forward.
Fletcher did well to squeeze a header on target but once again Szamotulski made an impressive stop.
And the home keeper then had to adjust his feet quickly to keep out a deflected strike from the lively Benjelloun.
Ma-Kalamby made the final contribution on a day dominated by the keepers, throwing himself full-length to save a Hunt header.
