Falkirk 1-1 Hibernian

Three players were sent off as the points were shared at Falkirk.

Hibs striker Clayton Donaldson won an early penalty and converted it but the goalscorer saw red before half time after picking up two yellow cards.

Falkirk hit back on 47 minutes when striker Pedro Moutinho slotted home from close range.

Darren Barr was then sent off for the Bairns, who continued to look the stronger side until Patrick Cregg's late dismissal.

Hibs remain unbeaten and Falkirk ended a four-game losing streak but neither manager will be happy after a poor match.

John Collins' side made the perfect start, winning a penalty after just four minutes when Donaldson was brought down by Barr.

Lewis Stevenson found the lanky striker on the wing and he used his pace to edge past Jack Ross and Donaldson picked himself up from Barr's late challenge to slot away the spot-kick.

The goalscorer was booked for celebrating and that was to prove costly later on.

With veteran playmaker Russell Latapy pulling the strings, Falkirk started to pick a few holes in the visitors' defence.

Striker Graham Barrett broke the offside trap in the 13th minute and went one-on-one with goalkeeper Yves Ma-Kalambay.

However, the Belgian under-21 international came out on top, spreading his huge frame to block the shot from an acute angle.

Latapy showed some great footwork to dance past a series of challenges but his shot from the edge of the penalty area was pushed away by Ma-Kalambay.

Hibs then enjoyed a good spell of possession and full-backs Thierry Gathuessi and David Murphy both saw powerful strikes flash narrowly wide of the target.

However, the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Donaldson picked up a second yellow card on 39 minutes.

The second caution came for a lunge at Steven Thomson with his studs showing.

Spanish midfielder Arnau Riera must have thought he'd levelled the game when he dispatched a sweet strike from long range but Ma-Kalambay made a fantastic save to keep the ball from hitting the top corner of the net.

Hibs made changes at the break, with Steven Fletcher and Alan O'Brien coming on but the visitors were caught napping two minutes after the re-start.

The home side switched play swiftly and Gerard Aafjes sent in a dangerous cross for Moutinho to latch on to.

The striker's first effort was blocked but he showed great awareness to stab it home at the second attempt.

Having been buoyed by the goal, Falkirk were also cursing player stupidity when Barr was given his marching orders.

Already on a yellow card, the centre half received a second booking for throwing the ball away when disputing a throw-in.

A blistering shot from Thomson flew wide of Ma-Kalambay's goal before Fletcher went close for the Easter Road side.

Latapy continued to shine as others lost their heads in a scrappy match, full of errors.

And the game ended on another sour note, with Cregg picking a second yellow for a challenge on Gathuessi.
